Miley Cyrus Is Not News

By james tarring cordrey, August 28, 2013
http://intentionalwarriors.com/2013/08/28/miley-cyrus-is-not-news/

unknownAfter a day of reading various reports of Miley Cyrus’ antics at the MTV Video Music Awards, i can say with pleasure that I am so very glad I didn’t watch it.

But more than that it’s time to also say this: Miley Cyrus’ performance is not news. It’s tragic, disgusting and shameful. But it’s not news.

There is nothing new about it. There is nothing newsworthy about it.

Was it shocking? From what i read i would have to say, “Yes” — and “No.”

Why?

Because we live in a hyper-sexualized, pornified world. And given that our culture is molded by pornography, it is not news when people act out in a pornographic fashion. We, as a society, have given ourselves over to gratifying the lusts of our flesh — whether that’s in the name of entertainment or in the privacy of our individual lives.

So when the information world explodes with story after story about something like Miley’s performance at the VMAs — much like Beyonce’s at the Super Bowl halftime show this past winter — we have to ask a few questions.

First, why are we treating this as news? Second, is the coverage of this event actually an intelligent discussion, or is it merely feigned shock and horror which is actually celebrating what happened by pretending to “report” on it which in turn simply promotes what happened? Third, was this the only sexual performance of the night at the VMAs?

I seriously doubt it was.

But the most important questions, truly, are ones the information world will not even touch.

Questions such as: If we are actually shocked at Miley’s performance, what is it that shocks you?  If her actions “cross a line,” what is that line? If you feel a line has been crossed, what will you do about it?

And for me  the most important questions are these: Christian brothers and sisters, what are you doing to remain free from the corruption that is in the world with regard to sexuality? How many of you watched that Miley Cyrus debacle and did so without a twinge of discomfort?

In a pornified world we shouldn’t be surprised when people act like porn stars. Instead, we need to encourage one another on to a higher and better life.

Four Jobs of an Accountability Partner

Four Jobs of an Accountability Partner

by Jeff Fisher on May 13, 2013

We are working on a podcast and a series of blog on accountability. A major part of sexual recovery is having good accountability, whether from an individual, a group, a minister, or a counselor.

We wanted to share four key jobs every good accountability partner has:

cheerCHEER – The person in recovery needs to know that they are not alone. Someone is on their side. Someone is rooting for them. Not just from the sidelines, but right in the war with him. The cheerleader encourages, but is always genuine in his encouragement. He doesn’t say “good job” if it’s not merited. But he always says, “You can get there. With God’s help, you can do it!”

ChallengeCHALLENGE – The addict will plateau at times and settle in to a comfortable level. The accountability partner is always challenging them. Putting the Big Picture of sexual purity, glorifying God, and healthy sexuality in front of them. The accountability partner sees farther than where the addict is and challenges him to shoot higher. Challenge happens when there is positive momentum or plateauing.

confrontCONFRONT – Confrontation happens where there is negative momentum. When sin happens and failures happens they need to be addressed. When an addict is hardening his heart or not willing to take the next step the accountability partner needs to take the role of confronting them. When the addicts behavior is hurting others, it must be confronted. Confession and repentance are the right responses to confrontation.

encourageCOMFORT – The recovery process is full of hurts, wounds, disappointments, failures, and consequences. The recovering person needs an arm around him when times are tough. He needs someone who understands where he is at and just sits with him. Prays for him. Cries with him. Supports him. Cares.

An accountability partner can be an ear to hear venting. Sometimes he needs needs to pray for him. Sometimes he just needs to show that he cares with a phone call.

The grief process can be tremendous for the addict. The consequences can sometimes seem unbearable. This is where an accountability partner can be a big help.

World’s ‘hottest’ porn star gives life to God

by: Chelsea Schilling

Once named by Maxim as one of the hottest porn stars in the world, J**** P****** performed in more than 275 pornographic films, stripped for money, sold  her body in prostitution, abused drugs and even tried to kill herself – but now  the young brunette stunner says she has found her true calling in life.

“Thank you, Jesus! I found Him, I’m home!” she declared, announcing that she  has become a born-again Christian.

P******, 26, whose real name is B****** R***, said, “It’s been a long  seven-year journey of porn, prostitution, stripping, drugs, alcohol and several  failed suicide attempts.”

R***, who struggled with anorexia in high school, was reportedly raped when  she was 14 years old.

Where  is our nation going wrong? Americans’ traditional sexual morality has been  violently subverted. In her hit book, “Sexual Sabotage,” Dr. Judith Reisman  explains why we can and must repudiate soul-and-body-destroying sexual  anarchy.

At the young age of 15, she began a career as a topless dancer in Mexico.

By 18, she performed in X-rated hardcore movies, shooting two and three sex  scenes a day for $900 each while she was in college.  She won numerous top  industry awards for her work.

In an interview with Adult FYI, Ruiz said producers told her she was  beautiful.

Upon filming her first sex scene, she recalled, “I felt so loved that day  because I was put in hair and makeup. I was told I was beautiful. I was going to  be a star.”

She said they made her work relentlessly because she had a very young look.  The producers dressed her in children’s clothing and pigtails.

“I already looked like I was 12,” she recalled, adding, “It’s disgusting how  they can portray you as a little girl. It’s complete perversion.”

But the industry began to have a devastating impact on her.

“It left me feeling drained,” she said. “I was so robotic, I was like a  rubber Barbie doll. I had no emotions. … I was no longer B******. I became J**** P******. I had an alter ego.”

Brittni_Ruiz5So R*** turned to drugs to numb her pain.

Then she attended a church in San Diego and met a man. They began dating, but  he was beaten to death in front of her at a Las Panchos restaurant by members of  a motorcycle gang.

“He got murdered, stabbed in front of me,” she said.

The trauma of the incident derailed her faith, and R*** began abusing drugs  again and tried to kill herself.

Then XXX Church, an outreach ministry  that focuses on helping people leave the porn industry and fight porn  addictions, found R*** at a porn convention. The XXX Church distributed  hundreds of Bibles and declared, “Jesus loves porn stars.”

R*** filmed her last sex scene in November 2012. She gave her life to God  this year and left the industry. She now works for a limousine company.

“It was seven long years,” she told Adult FYI. “I hated what I was doing, but  I wondered what I would do next.”

Looking back, R*** recalled, “I never found love in my life and was looking  for it in all the wrong places. … I have finally encountered the unconditional  love of God, and I will never go back.”
