Praise be to God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for all He has done to grow His ministry!
Rat Park Experiment
Much of our shared understanding about drugs and addiction came from a series of studies done in the 1950s and 60s on lab rats. But a skeptical researcher has designed his own study that involves, well… essentially an amusement park for rats, and the surprising results may show that everything we think we know about addiction is all… wrong.
What do you think – should we be approaching substance abuse differently? Would loosening our drug laws help end mass incarceration or lead to more violence and drug addiction? Should we approach marijuana differently than heroin or cocaine? Let us know what you think in the comments and check out other freethink wrong videos – and subscribe for more great series as well.
Reminder – NEW STEP Group Starting This Saturday, May 16th!
Our founder, Jorge, will be leading his eighth step study group starting on May 16th.
The group lasts for about 12 months and you will go through all the steps including the pre-step and post-step work in the Castimonia book.
They will meet every week on Saturday mornings from 8:00am to 9:55am before the 10am Saturday Castimonia meeting in Katy. There is no cost to join the group but you must purchase a copy of the Castimonia book. Out of town guests will be able to use Zoom to join the group if they cannot attend in person. Houston-area members will need to attend in person.
This group takes a strong, long term commitment and is great for those ready to work the steps and have the Lord change their lives.
Please have any interested individuals contact Jorge at jorge@castimonia.org.
9-1-1

For those of us in America, we know what to do in case of an emergency. Dial 9-1-1. Let’s apply that to relapse prevention. When trouble approaches, practice a new 9-1-1.
Do these 9 things first.
- Pop and pray.
- Make a call.
- Quote a Scripture.
- Read the 12 Steps.
- Go for a walk.
- Listen to a podcast.
- Play a worship song.
- Practice thought replacement.
- Embrace the 20-minute rule.
Then, if you are still on the edge, move to 1-1.
Do this first – remember the end game.
Then recite this verse – “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Recovery Step: When your sobriety is under attack, remember 9-1-1.
