How to stop the addiction to pornography (in general)

Originally posted at: https://theskyandmore.wordpress.com/2022/03/23/how-to-stop-the-addiction-of-pornography-in-general/

As promised, though delayed due to the love of flesh, I am here to present some ways to help people from the addiction of pornography.

In short, we can get through the addiction of porn through the following ways:

  1. Understanding the reality of porn

Understanding the long term side effects of porn would make us stay clear from going over the boundary again and again. So what, some may ask. Even when one knows the side effects and the destruction that porn has on us, one may not be able to control themselves. That’s why they ended up in the rut. And that brings us to point number 2.

2. A life depending on God and experiencing God

I wonder whether you have experienced God, the real God that is omnipotent and omnipresent before? If you had, you’d know the depth, height and wide our heavenly Father loves us that He sent His only begotten Son to die for us on the cross. Personally, I have experienced Jesus many times in my life and I am 101% sure that He has risen and is always watching over me. When we are weak, He is strong. All we have to do is to let Him guide us to live a holy life, because He is holy.

3. Having a support group from the same faith

To ensure that we are on the right track, one should join support group from the church. The more we listen to the sermons, the truth and the sharing of successes by the people in the group, the more confident we are that it is possible to triumph over the sin of porn. One must be able to find a mentor to listen to, support and pray together. The problem with people who have decided to leave porn but going back again is because they do not have a support group to monitor and support each other so that they could all adhere to the rules and move on to another phase of life.

4. Supporting the changes and building a changed life

Once one has made remarkable changes in life, one should continue to make it into a habit and internalised it into a character.

OKAY, this is not easy, you may say. You have read many posts giving the same ideas and ways but they’re not helping. SO? Let’s move on to how to do it technically! We need to get our brain, our body, the spirit and soul into making this a success. Do meet me up in the next post. See ya!

Cultural Quote #267: Partners Of Porn Addicts

Originally posted at: https://walkinintegrity.com/cultural-quote-267-partners-of-porn-addicts/

Now men who are addicted to pornography have a tendency to objectify their partners, and become very critical of different aspects of their partner’s life. They may become critical of your physique, your lifestyle, and many of the things which they previously never showed any interested. Now this is rough, and can make you feel pretty bad about yourself. Sometimes you feel that no matter what you do, you’re just never good enough for him. And it’s true, because he’s set absolutely unrealistic standards for you, thanks to pornography. This treatment can take a heavy toll on your self-esteem.
