There is this little verse in the New Testament that we often miss. “Jesus said to her, ‘Give me a drink’” (John 4:7). When Jesus made this request of the woman at the well, he was teaching us a bigger lesson.
How many times have we been expecting Jesus Christ to quench our thirst when we should have been satisfying him?
The prayer of millions is, “God, save me from my addiction. Take away the urges. Forgive me and make me whole!”
But what if we took the emphasis off of what we want God to do for us and put it on what God wants us to do for him?
It is in giving that we receive, and it is in pouring ourselves out that we are filled.
Recovery Step: Quit asking God to bless you and start blessing God.
